For a prominent piece of land on the edge of Esslingen's old town between a vineyard and the Roßneckar canal, a competition for a hotel and office building advertised. The buildings, which are around 10,000 square meters in total, take up the height development of the site by staggering them along the street and, with their extensive green roofs, form a counterpart to the heavily sealed environment. The planned vertical structure also mediates between the dense development to the south and the small-scale rural buildings on the vineyard. The hotel, which is oriented towards the Roßneckar Canal, forms a town square that opens out towards the river thanks to its angular structure.
