An Earthly Museum: Competition for the Extension of the Brücke-Museum Berlin

We are delighted to present our entry for the competition for the extension of the Brücke-Museum in Berlin. Our “Earthly Museum” understands the museum as an open, sustainable infrastructure and as a topography: embedded into the slope, it connects interior and exterior spaces while revealing the landscape as a historically and ecologically shaped environment. Rammed earth and reused building components, together with embedding the building into the ground, reduce the need for heating and cooling and combine architectural responsibility with a new understanding of the museum in the 21st century.
