What Spaces Does the Museum of Tomorrow Need?

On Thursday, June 4, a lecture and discussion will explore the future spatial development of the Mönchehaus Museum Goslar. Lennart Wolff and Nwakuso Edozien (studio lennart wolff / wolff:architekten BDA, Berlin) will join Museum Director Miriam Bettin in a conversation about how museum spaces can evolve to meet future needs and opportunities. Drawing on their practice in exhibition architecture and adaptive reuse projects across Europe and West Africa, the architects will present concepts that move beyond the white cube: envisioning the museum as an open, breathing house and developing it as an infrastructure. At the center is the historic half-timbered structure – understood as a material accumulation of temporal layers and as a living archive that absorbs the influences of material, climate, and use. In this way, it enables new exchanges between inside and outside, as well as between past and present.
