Building Upon XXL: 52 municipal housing units completed

Commissioned by HOWOGE, we carefully extended a 1929 housing estate by architect Walter Borchard in Berlin-Lichtenberg with 52 additional rooftop units, most of which are subsidized and rent-controlled. The project shows how pre-war housing without heritage protection can be thoughtfully developed further by uncovering and reworking its original period qualities.
