Construction progress: timber construction in Berlin-Mitte

The extension planned by wolff:architekten for a classic Berlin apartment building near the Zionskirche is a two-floor addition. While the roof cubature on the street side has to be based on the usual Berlin mansard roof, the new building opens up on the courtyard side as an almost completely glazed, modern structure. Due to the height of the building, there is a magnificent view over the center of the capital from here. And of course: the new storey ceilings are made of timber panels. It also goes without saying that the old bricks salvaged from the demolition of the attic are reused and re-bricked on site in the spirit of “cradle to cradle.”
