residential building in Berlin-Mitte

The corner house in Berlin, which has been mostly vacant for several years, has been thoroughly and comprehensively renovated. Due to the partial demolition of the house by the GDR border troops in the 1970s, the remaining staircases were in an unfavorable position in the rest of the building. Both stairwells were removed in the course of the renovation and replaced by a central exposed concrete stairwell with an internal glass elevator. High-quality apartments with new, spacious bathrooms and underfloor heating were built on each floor. The historical ambience of the Gründerzeit building was carefully preserved. A shop, a practice and a wine bar were built on the ground floor. Today the house is part of the Berlin Wall Memorial.
